Play Therapy

Therapeutic Play Practitioner and Trainee Play Therapist Laura Slater has joined our team working at Meadowbank on Mondays and Tuesdays. With the help of the school staff, Laura has identified a number of children who may benefit from some Therapeutic Play sessions. These sessions generally span over a term and can help children express their innermost thoughts and feelings.

Play is a child’s natural form of communication and using a variety of expressive play materials, Laura is able to provide a regular, non-judgmental, safe environment for the children to explore freely. These sessions give the children some time out from the demands of the classroom, help them to recognise and communicate their needs and emotions, build their resilience and nurtures their problem-solving abilities.
